Overview
Measurement Overlay is a layer in the iGUIDE viewer that shows a room's measurements directly on the 360° photo: room dimensions, wall lengths, the width and height of every window and door, and ceiling height. Switch on Dimensions and the numbers appear in place, on the walls and openings they describe — nothing to drag or line up.

How to Turn On Dimensions
- Open an eligible iGUIDE tour in the Viewer.
- Click the menu icon in the top right corner.
3. Click Dimensions to switch it on.
Using the Dimensions Filter
Once Dimensions is on, a filter appears beside the mini-map that lets you choose what to display:
- Select all
- Walls
- Doors
- Windows
Which Tours Support Measurement Overlay
Measurement Overlay isn't available on every tour. For the Dimensions option to appear at all, a tour needs:
- Camera generation — available on the PLANIX Pro and the PLANIX R1.
- Complete capture data — every viewpoint in the tour has height data recorded. If any part of the tour is missing this, the whole tour is excluded.
- Package — Measurement Overlay is included on Standard and Premium only.
If a tour doesn't meet these, the Dimensions option won't appear in the menu at all.
On an eligible tour, what actually shows depends on when it was drafted:
- Room dimensions and walls show on tours drafted with any version going back over a year, so most existing eligible tours already have this.
- Doors and windows only show on tours drafted with the newer version rolling out shortly before launch. Tours drafted before that will show walls and room dimensions, but not door and window measurements.
How It Behaves
- Off until you turn it on. Nothing changes on an existing tour until Dimensions is switched on from the menu.
- One room at a time. You see measurements for the room you're currently in. Move to the next panorama and the numbers follow.
- Follows your unit setting. Displays in metric or imperial, matching whatever the viewer is already set to.
- Uses existing capture data. Measurements aren't recalculated — they're the same values already stored in the tour's room and opening data.
- Hides during transitions. The overlay hides while you move between panoramas and shows nothing on exterior panoramas.
- Shows for every eligible room, even where the operator chose to hide dimensions on the floor plan.
- Assumes rectangular openings. Circular or half-circle windows won't render a measurement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why can't I see Measurement Overlay on my tour?
A: It only appears on tours captured with the PLANIX Pro or PLANIX R1, processed with a recent draft format, on Standard or Premium packages. If a tour doesn't meet all of these, the Dimensions option won't appear in the menu.
Q: Are the numbers accurate enough to use?
A: They're the same measurements already in your iGUIDE, the same ones behind the floor plan — measured during the scan, not estimated afterward. They're suitable for planning, checking fit, and estimating.
Q: Is Measurement Overlay on by default?
A: No. It stays off until the person viewing the tour switches it on from the menu, so existing tours look exactly as they do today.
Q: Does it cost extra?
A: No. There's no add-on to purchase — it's included on Standard and Premium.
Q: Does this replace the Measure tool?
A: No. Measurement Overlay is the everyday, always-visible view. The Measure tool is still there, unchanged, for point-to-point or custom measurements.
Q: Will it clutter the tour?
A: No. It only shows measurements for the room you're currently in, and hides automatically while you move between panoramas.
Q: Can you turn this on for my older tours?
A: No. The measurements are drawn from data captured at scan time, so they can't be added after the fact. Tours captured going forward on eligible hardware will have it.
