Why do exterior scans differ from interior scans?
Recommended settings
Turn Alignment Alerts Off.
This can be done via the settings screen or directly from the warning message itself. Alignment alerts are a good indicator that manual alignment is required, but they can be distracting if they occur too frequently. Turning this setting off will result in fewer interruptions while scanning.
Turn Show Live Lidar Data Off
This will reduce the amount of real-time visual feedback provided while moving from scan to scan. This setting was intended for interiors and can be distracting when scanning exteriors as the camera will get lost more easily. Turning this setting off will create a less distracting view of the data when moving from scan to scan.
Turn Noise Reduction Off
This setting can be found by tapping the Image Settings button. Exteriors are usually well lit and don’t benefit as much from noise reduction. Only consider enabling this feature if you are shooting exteriors in low light. Turning this feature off dramatically increases capture speed.
Important Notes
Having these features enabled will not prevent you from shooting exterior scans. These are only suggested settings that may make the capture process faster, easier, and less confusing. Every property is different and there are situations where you may find these settings beneficial.
- Ensure after scanning exteriors, you re-adjust your settings for interior scans for your next property or project.
