How to Connect to the R1

Overview

Connecting your R1 camera to the iGUIDE PLANIX app is the first step before scanning a property. There are two pairing options: a QR code method that uses your smart device's camera for a fast handshake, and a manual method that connects through your device's Wi-Fi settings.

This guide covers both pairing paths step by step, plus a quick troubleshooting tip if the app prompts you for camera access.

Before You Begin

1. Install the PLANIX App on your smart device
2. Make sure the R1 is fully charged before use

QR Code Connection Method

1. Open the iGUIDE PLANIX App on your smart device
2. In the Devices section, tap + New Device in the top right
3. Power on the R1 by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds (startup can take about 20 seconds)
4. When the QR code appears on the camera's screen, tap Next in the app
5. Hold your smart device up to the QR code and scan it
6. When the Searching for Device prompt appears, wait briefly, then tap Connect when prompted
7. The QR code will disappear from the camera screen and the app will display a Connected message — you're now paired with your R1.

Manual Connection Method

1. Open the iGUIDE PLANIX App on your smart device
2. In the Devices section, tap + New Device in the top right
3. Power on the R1 by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds; once the QR code appears, tap Next in the app
4. Tap Manual Connection, then open your smart device's Wi-Fi setting
5. Find your camera's Wi-Fi network in the available list (it will look like PLANIX-0E5A5570.osc) and select it
6. Enter the Wi-Fi password — it's printed on the label on the bottom of the camera
7. Once the device is connected to the camera's Wi-Fi, return to the PLANIX App; pairing will complete automatically
8. When the Connected! window appears, you're ready to start scanning.

Troubleshooting

Issue: What should I do if the PLANIX App asks for permission to access my smart device's camera when trying to connect? 
Solution: In order to use the app properly you will need to accept the use of the smart device's camera, especially if trying to connect via the QR code.
