Overview
This section explains how to transfer your project from a smart device to a computer so you can save a copy, open it in Stitch, or prepare it for an update.
Before You Begin
- Make sure you have the following if applicable: Smart device with the captured project, connection cables, stable Wi-fi network, applicable transfer apps.
- Make sure you are finished taking scans for the project you are transferring over to the computer.
Steps
IOS Device to MacBook (Airdrop)
- Open the Files app on your iPhone.
- Navigate to the PLANIX folder.
- Locate the project folder you wish to transfer and tap and hold on it.
- Select Compress to create a compressed (ZIP) file of the project folder.
- Tap and hold the newly created compressed file.
- Select Share from the options menu.
- Choose AirDrop as the sharing method.
- Select your MacBook from the AirDrop list (ensure that AirDrop is enabled on your MacBook).
- Accept the incoming file transfer request on your MacBook to complete the process.
IOS Device to MacBook

Connect your Apple smart device to your MacBook using a hardware cable (USB).
- Your Apple smart device will prompt you to confirm whether you trust the connected device. Choose "Trust" and follow any additional prompts.

Open Finder on MacBook:
- In the Finder sidebar, you should see your Apple device listed. Select your device.

Access Project Files:
- Once you have selected your device, click on the Files tab.
- In the Files tab, click the PLANIX dropdown menu to expand and view your projects stored on the device.

Copy Project to Desktop:
- To retrieve the project folder, click and hold the project you want to copy.
- Drag and drop the selected project to your desktop in Finder.

Complete the Transfer:
- Once the project has been copied to your desktop, you have successfully retrieved your project folder from your Apple smart device and transferred it to your MacBook.
Android to Windows PC

Connect Android to Windows PC:
- Once the camera is off, connect your Android device to your Windows PC using a hardware cable (USB).
- Ensure your Android device is unlocked so the PC can access its data.

Locate the Android Device in Windows File Explorer:
- On your Windows PC, open File Explorer (you can find it in the Start menu or by pressing Win + E).
- In the File Explorer sidebar, look under "This PC" for your Android device, which should be listed as a selectable option. Click on the device name to access its files.

Navigate to the PLANIX Folder on the Android Device:
- Open the Device's File Structure.
- Click on Internal Storage or Documents folder on your Android device (depending on your device’s layout).
- In the Documents folder, look for a subfolder named PLANIX. This folder contains your project data.

Copy the Project Folder to Your Windows PC:
- Within the PLANIX folder, select the project folder you want to transfer.
- Right-click on the project folder and choose Copy, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C.
- Navigate to your desired location on the Windows PC (e.g., Desktop or a dedicated folder for projects) and paste the folder by right-clicking and selecting Paste or using Ctrl + V.
Android to MacBook

Connect Your Android Device to the Mac:
- Connect your Android device to your Mac using a USB cable.
- Ensure the cable is in good condition and capable of data transfer.
- Download and Install OpenMTP on your Mac.
- Unlock your Android Device to allow access to its files.
- Launch the OpenMTP app on your Mac.

Allow Access to Phone Data:
- When prompted, allow OpenMTP to access your phone's data.

Locate Your Folders:
- OpenMTP will display folders on your Mac (left panel) and Android device (right panel).
- Note: If you don’t see your Android folders, click the ‘Refresh’ button in OpenMTP.

Navigate to the Project Folder:
- In the right panel, browse your Android folders until you find the PLANIX folder where your project data is stored. The current location is Documents/PLANIX.

Transfer Project Folders:
- Select one or more folders in the PLANIX folder on the right.
- Drag and drop them onto your destination folder on the left.
- A progress bar will display the status of the transfer.
iOS device to Windows PC
- Connect Your iOS Device to the Windows PC with a USB cable.
- Unlock Your iOS Device.
- Download and install the Apple Devices App on your PC.
- Open the Apple Devices app on your Windows PC.

Access Files in the Apple Devices App:
- In the sidebar menu, select FILES.
- Locate the PLANIX App Folder.

Select the Project Folder to Transfer:
- In the Documents window, locate the project folder you wish to transfer.

Save the Selected Folder:
- Click the Save button.
- An Explorer window will open.

Choose or Create a Destination Folder:
- In the Explorer window, create a new folder or choose an existing folder to store the project data.

Confirm the Transfer Destination:
- Click the Select Folder button to start the transfer.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Transferred project wont open in Stitch?
Solution: Make sure to transfer the entire project file from your smart device to your computer, and not just the separate files.
Issue: I am not seeing the PLANIX Folder within my files?
Solution: Ensure your smart device is unlocked and you allow access to the device.
