Overview
Stitch is the iGUIDE desktop application Operators use to process projects before uploading to the iGUIDE Portal. It includes tools for opening project folders, managing panoramas, aligning laser data, adjusting image quality, measuring ceiling heights, and exporting completed projects as a .TAR file ready for drafting.
This guide walks through every major Stitch feature, helping Operators move efficiently from raw scans to a polished, export-ready iGUIDE while applying consistent visual adjustments, accurate alignment, and clean project structure across single or multi-floor builds.

Stitch Features
Turning Panos On or Off
- Middle-click the pano in Project Explorer, or
- Right-click the scan and choose Hide in iGUIDE
- Disabled panos appear red with hollow dots on the floor plan
- Panos can also be disabled later in the iGUIDE Portal after publishing
Set the Initial Pano and Angle
- Right-click the desired pano and select Set as initial pano
- Click Set initial pano angle, then left-click in the pano to set viewing direction
- Visual indicators: Blue box = selected angle for a pano; Orange box = initial pano angle
- The initial pano can be updated later in the iGUIDE Portal
Important: An initial pano must be set before exporting from Stitch.
Add Notes for Drafters
- Use the Notes tool to add on-screen messages in the laser data area
- Helpful for instructions, room naming requests, or flagging issues for the drafting team
Add User or Drone Panos
- Right-click the floor where the pano should appear and select Add user pano
- Choose the image to upload when prompted
- Set the position and rotation of the pano on the floor plan
- User panos appear in the tour but do not include laser data or navigation arrows
- Common uses include drone aerials and points of interest near the property
Note: Use a 2:1 ratio image, max 7200×3600 px. Non-panoramic images will appear distorted, and incorrect ratios trigger black bars.
Adjust Ceiling Height and Enable Vertical Measuring
- Choose a panorama with a clear, unobstructed view of a flat wall (~4 ft / 120 cm away)
- Switch to Move mode
- Double-click the top of the wall on the panorama preview (red cross appears)
- Double-click the bottom of the wall on the panorama preview
- Save the measurement as the floor's ceiling height
- New measurements overwrite previous saved values Ceiling height can also be entered manually under floor Settings
Use the Drawing Tool
- Activate via the toolbar or by pressing L
- Hold Shift to display yellow guide lines while drawing
- Click once to start a line, click again to finish — repeat as needed
- Hold CTRL/CMD and drag to multi-select reference lines, then press Delete to remove

.tarfile - Lines stay visible across floors via the underlay feature
Setting and Applying Presets in Stitch
Presets in Stitch allow you to save custom image adjustments—like brightness or contrast tweaks—and apply them consistently across multiple panoramas. This helps streamline your workflow and maintain visual consistency, especially after using the Auto Color feature.
Saving Presets
- Click the wizard hat icon (or press A) to open image adjustments
- Click Reset beside Equalize
- Adjust temperature, brightness, contrast, and saturation as offsets to Planitar's Auto Color
- Save adjustments to one of three preset slots
Applying Presets
- Click Auto Color first to restore Planitar's default settings (not required for R1 — processing happens at capture)
- Select your preset and click Load to apply it to the current pano
- Use Next Pano to apply across multiple images
- Use Paste to All only if all panos are still on default settings
Presets Only work when applied on top of Planitar's auto adjustments (which are always applied automatically by default). If you have reset or made any adjustments, Auto Color should be clicked before applying a preset. However, with an R1 system, the image processing takes place when you first take the image, so Auto Color does not need to be pressed.
Auto-Importing Presets
- Open Settings (shortcut W)
- Choose a preset to auto-apply on new project imports
The preset you are saving is disconnected from what you see on the image. For example, if after clicking on the Auto Color button, you are provided with +15 in the brightness tab, and you personally need another +10 brightness added on (resulting in +25 brightness), you should set the brightness to +10. The Presets are to help you store the values you constantly add to the images after the Auto Coloring has been applied to reduce the time required to make the necessary changes.
Tips on Improving Image Quality within Stitch
Click Adjust Panoramas (wizard hat icon)
Use the Eyedropper Tool to set global white balance — try several areas for the most natural result
If blue tones persist (e.g., near windows), lower the Blue Slider (note: this affects all blue tones in the image)
Merge Projects or Add Floors
- Only merge scans captured with the same iGUIDE camera serial number
- Do not merge projects from different camera systems (e.g., R1 and PLANIX Pro) — this may corrupt data
- Use Windows Explorer or Mac Finder to move scan or floor folders between projects
- Maintain folder hierarchy: scan folders inside floor folders, floor folders inside the main project folder
- Rename folders to resolve naming conflicts
Creating a New Floor
- Right-click the building where the floor should be added
- Select Add Floor
- Click the floor name to rename it
Moving Panos Between Floors
- Hold Shift to select a range, or Ctrl/Cmd for multiple individual panos
- Drag and drop the selected panos into the desired floor
Adding a New Building
- Right-click the project name in Stitch
- Select Add Building
- Drag and drop floors or scans into the new building
- Each building displays separate area totals in the final iGUIDE
Export Your Project
- Click the second button from the left in the top menu to save your project
- Click the third button from the left to begin export
- Resolve any errors that appear before continuing
- Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%
- The
.TARfile is saved in a new _Export folder inside the project directory - Clicking Create iGUIDE opens the export folder directly
Tips: Always confirm an initial pano is set; never rename or move files in the _Export folder; if export fails repeatedly, recheck pano settings, alignment, and folder structure.
Floor Properties
- Left-click any floor title on the left-hand panel to open properties
- Above/Below Grade — mark a floor as above or below exterior ground level (e.g., basement)
- Exterior Wall Thickness — set the estimated wall thickness for the floor
- Ceiling Height — appears in the iGUIDE feature sheet (not on the 3D tour or floor plan)
Underlay Floor View
- Right-click the floor name in the tree view (left panel)
- Select Set underlay floor
- Choose another floor to overlay, or select None to disable
Troubleshooting
-
Can’t open your project?
- Make sure you're selecting the full project folder, not a subfolder
-
Export errors?
