Scan Alignment Errors 

Common Symptoms

  1. Distorted floor plans
  2. Misaligned panoramas
  3. Export errors when finalizing the projects. 

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Run Arrange All Scans to auto-align the project
  2. Manually adjust misaligned scans using the floor plan view
  3. Use visual cues in the laser data — such as straight walls and corners — to guide alignment
  4. Confirm scans were captured with a clear line of sight between positions

Tip: Perform alignment early in your workflow to avoid issues during pano placement or export.

Overlapping Scans

What Causes Overlaps

  1. Two or more scans placed within 50 cm (19.7 in) of each other
  2. Often prevents the project from exporting successfully

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Open the floor plan view in Stitch to locate flagged overlapping scans
  2. Move one or more scans to increase spacing between them
  3. Disable one of the overlapping scans if repositioning isn't practical

Best Practice: Maintain at least 50 cm between scan positions during capture.

Q: What happens if I skip alignment?
A: You may encounter misaligned floor plans, pano placement issues, and export errors. 

Q: Why does my floor plan look distorted? 
A: This is often due to misaligned or overlapping scans. Check the laser data and adjust accordingly.

Q: Can I disable scans without deleting them?  
A: Yes. Disabling a scan will remove it from the export process, and final 3D tour without deleting the data.
