Overview
Post a project that needs a property captured or documented, and certified iGUIDE Pros in that area bid for the work. You compare the bids, pick the Pro you want and track the job through to delivery.
This article covers what stays private, how to fill in the job form, how to compare bids, and what to do if the delivered work is not right.
You need an account with the Job Poster role, which requires a verified Google Business Profile and a valid iGUIDE customer ID. See How to sign up for ION.

What is public and what is private
This is the question most Job Posters ask first, so here is the plain answer.
Anyone can see this on a job posting, including people who are not signed in and have no account:
- The project city and state or province
- The industry, property type, approximate area and number of floors
- The dates needed by, and the price range
- The deliverables and capture requirements requested
- How many bids the job has received
Only the iGUIDE Pro whose bid is accepted can see:
- The project's full street address, released at the moment the bid is accepted
Only the Job Poster can see:
- The bid amounts. iGUIDE Pros can see how many bids a job has, never what they are.
Nobody else can see these at all:
- The Job Poster's name, company and contact details, which never appear on the listing
- Messages between a Job Poster and an iGUIDE Pro
- Delivered files
The address here is the property being captured, not the Job Poster's business address, and it is never made public.
Two ways to reach an iGUIDE Pro
Post a job. Your job goes on the public job board and is automatically emailed to iGUIDE Pros in the area. They come to you with bids. Use this when you want options.
Request a quote. Send a request straight to a specific iGUIDE Pro from their profile in the directory. Use this when you already know who you want. See Find and hire an iGUIDE Pro.
Filling in the job form
Select Post a job from the top right of any page. The form opens in a single window, so there are no steps to work through.
| Field | Required | Notes |
| Industry | Yes | Real Estate, Design Build, Insurance and Restoration, or Facility Management. This controls which deliverables you can request, so set it first. |
| Location | Yes | The address of the property being captured, not your business address. Start typing and pick from the suggestions. |
| Property type | Yes | See the full list below. |
| Approximate area | Yes | Enter a number and switch between ft² and m². |
| Number of floors | Yes | |
| Date needed by | Yes | A range, with a start date and an end date. Give as wide a window as you genuinely can. |
| Price range | No | A low and a high figure, visible to iGUIDE Pros. |
| What do you need? | Yes | A completed iGUIDE and add-ons, or raw project files. |
Property type options: Residential Single Family, Residential Multi-Family, Office, Retail, Restaurant / Food Service, Industrial / Warehouse, Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, Government / Institutional, Assembly / Entertainment, Mixed-Use, Specialty / Other.
Deliverables
Start by deciding what you need back from the capture. There are two paths.
- A completed iGUIDE and add-ons. You receive finished, processed deliverables. What you can choose from depends on the industry you select.
- Raw project files (.tar). You receive the unprocessed capture data and process it yourself. This requires an active iGUIDE Portal account to process the raw data yourself.
If you want completed deliverables, these are the options by industry.
| Industry | Deliverables available |
| Real Estate | iGUIDE Virtual Tour & Floor Plan, iGUIDE Site Plan Add-on, Photography, Twilight Photography, Drone / Aerial, Video |
| Design Build | iGUIDE Virtual Walkthrough & Floor Plan, iGUIDE Advanced Drawing Package |
| Insurance and Restoration | iGUIDE Virtual Walkthrough & Floor Plan, Sketch Add-on (ESX file) |
| Facility Management | iGUIDE Virtual Walkthrough & Floor Plan, iGUIDE Advanced Drawing Package |
Real Estate covers more than the iGUIDE itself. Photography, Twilight Photography, Drone / Aerial and Video are the other things a photographer commonly captures on site for a listing, so one visit from one iGUIDE Pro can cover all of it.
iGUIDE Advanced Drawing Package reveals a further set of CAD options once you select it: Reflected Ceiling Plan Add-on (DWG), Exterior Elevations Add-on (DWG), Roof Plan Add-on (DWG), 3D Model Add-on (RVT) and 3D Model Add-on (DWG). They stay hidden until the package itself is selected.
The Advanced Drawing Package includes a plotted PDF by default. You receive it whether or not you add any of the CAD options above. Knowing this up front avoids surprises about what arrives and what it costs.
For full detail on what each package and add-on includes, see Packages and Add-ons in the iGUIDE Help Center.
Change the industry and your deliverable selection resets. Set the industry first, then choose deliverables.
Capture requirements
This is where you tell the iGUIDE Pro exactly what to capture on site. It is also where you influence the price, because scanning a commercial roof or the full exterior is more work than scanning the interior alone.
Use these four pickers to spell out anything specific you need, for example the exterior scanned, a commercial roof included, or particular assets tagged so you know they were captured while the Pro was on site.
| Picker | Options |
| Horizontal scans | All Building Levels, The Exterior, The Roof, Above All Drop Ceilings |
| Vertical scans | Front-to-Back Vertical Profile, Side-to-Side Vertical Profile, All Staircases, The Exterior |
| Interior assets | Electrical Panels / Load Centers, Main Circuit Breakers, HVAC, Furnace / Boiler, Heat Pumps, Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), Hot Water Heater, Water Softener, Water Meter, Incoming Water Line Shut Offs |
| Exterior assets | Gas Meter, Incoming Gas Line, Hydro / Electrical Meter, Transformer, Incoming Water Line, HVAC, Roof Top Units, Air Conditioners, Heat Pumps |
A job posting has no free-text field. If something you need is not in these lists, there is nowhere on the posting to write it, so raise it through messages once Pros start getting in touch. Alternatively, send a quote request instead, which does have a notes field. See Find and hire an iGUIDE Pro
Saving and posting
- Save as draft keeps the job private in your Drafts tab. Nothing is published and no iGUIDE Pro is notified.
- Post job publishes it. The job goes live on the job board and iGUIDE Pros can bid right away.
Your price range is visible to iGUIDE Pros and it shapes who bids. Set it too low and you narrow your field. A bid can add itemized extras such as a travel surcharge, so a property far from the nearest iGUIDE Pro may come in above a range that would be fine in a dense area.
Managing the bids you get
Your jobs live under My Jobs. If your account is both a Job Poster and an iGUIDE Pro, set the Viewing as switch to Job poster.
The My Jobs page in the Job Poster view, showing the Open, Booked, Completed, Expired and Drafts tabs
The Job Poster view has five tabs: Open jobs, Booked jobs, Completed jobs, Expired jobs and Drafts.
You are emailed each time a bid arrives. For each bid you can see the iGUIDE Pro's profile, rating and badges, their fee breakdown and total, the date they can start, and any note they left.
From there you can message them, accept a bid, or edit or delete the job. An iGUIDE Pro can update or withdraw a bid before you accept, and you are notified either way.
How to compare bids
Price is the obvious line, not the whole picture. Also weigh:
- Advanced Capture Certified. The iGUIDE Pro has completed iGUIDE's Advanced Capture training. Any iGUIDE Pro can earn this one by finishing the online course in the iGUIDE learning portal. The badge is applied to their profile once they pass.
- National Provider. The iGUIDE Pro delivers work across the country rather than in a single region, and National Providers appear at the top of directory results. This badge is applied by the iGUIDE team rather than earned automatically. Contact iGUIDE Support if you think your business qualifies.
- Top Provider. Applied automatically to iGUIDE's most experienced operators based on their capture history, and reviewed every quarter. It reflects recent activity, so it can be gained or lost as volumes change.
- Rating and completed jobs. Both on the iGUIDE Pro's profile.
- Recent work. Profiles carry real delivered tours. Open a few.
- Start date. The cheapest bid is not a saving if it lands after you need it.
- Response time. A fair signal of how communication will go.
After you book
Accepting a bid books the iGUIDE Pro. They are emailed, the job moves to Booked jobs, and the project's full address becomes visible to that Pro so they can attend.
You can cancel or reschedule a booked job. Cancel only appears once a job is booked, so to take down a posting nobody has been booked for, delete it instead.
Receiving your deliverables
The iGUIDE Pro captures the property, marks the capture done and uploads the files. You are emailed when they are ready, and they appear in a Delivered Files section with View and Download links.
The job status timeline runs: Scheduled, then Awaiting delivery, then Delivered, then Completed.
If the delivery is not right
- Request a revision. Ask the iGUIDE Pro to redo or fix something. Your status updates to Revision requested.
- Flag as incomplete. Report that the delivery does not match what you ordered.
Message them alongside either one and say specifically what needs to change.
Check the files before you mark the job complete. Once complete, you can no longer request a revision or open a dispute.
When you are satisfied, mark the job complete and it moves to Completed jobs. You can then leave a star rating and written review, tagged to the deliverables it covers. Reviews appear publicly on the iGUIDE Pro's profile and are how the next Job Poster decides who to hire.
Paying your iGUIDE Pro
ION does not process or hold payments. The Job Poster and the iGUIDE Pro agree a price through the bid, then settle directly between themselves.
Because payment happens away from ION, deposits, invoicing and cancellation terms are for the two parties to agree. Set them out in the bid note or in messages before work starts.
If the delivered work is not right, the Job Poster has two tools before the job is marked complete. Request a revision asks the iGUIDE Pro to redo or fix something. Flag as incomplete reports that the delivery does not match what was ordered. Both notify the iGUIDE Pro so they can re-deliver. Neither is available once the job is marked complete, so check the files first.
Disagreements about money are between the Job Poster and the iGUIDE Pro and are governed by the ION Terms of Service. iGUIDE does not hold funds and cannot reverse a payment made away from the platform. If you have any concerns about another member, contact iGUIDE Support.
