Overview
A Missing Stitch Data tag means the iGUIDE Portal has no usable Stitch TAR file attached to that iGUIDE, so the drafting team cannot start your floor plan. Until a valid TAR file is uploaded and submitted, the iGUIDE will not move through production.
This guide explains why the tag appears, how to clear it, and how to keep it from delaying delivery to your client. Most cases take only a few minutes to fix: re-export the project and upload the correct TAR file.

Common Causes
- The upload was interrupted or never completed. The iGUIDE was created, but the Stitch Data never fully uploaded. The upload is sensitive to connection drops. A weak cellular signal, or moving between cell towers while uploading, can interrupt it. Closing the app or browser, or locking or shutting down the device before the upload finishes, has the same effect. The upload does not restart on its own once the connection recovers, so the iGUIDE is left waiting for data. Larger projects are more likely to be affected because they take longer to upload.
- The order was cancelled or the stored file was deleted. Operators have a 15-minute grace period after uploading to cancel the order. Cancelling deletes the Stitch Data but keeps the iGUIDE, so new data can be uploaded to it. The same happens if the Delete stored file button on the Stitch Data page is used, or if the iGUIDE Support team cancels the order or deletes the file at your request. Support can only do this before the drafting team has claimed and started work on the iGUIDE. In all of these cases, the iGUIDE shows Missing Stitch Data until a replacement TAR file is uploaded.
- The iGUIDE was set up ahead of time on purpose. Some Operators create the iGUIDE in a web browser before the scan, filling in the address, package and other details but skipping the Stitch Data upload. They then add the data later, once the project is created in the app and scanning is complete. Until then the iGUIDE shows Missing Stitch Data, which is expected and not an error. Upload the data within 2 weeks of creating the iGUIDE so it is not deleted.
Important: An iGUIDE can stay in Missing Stitch Data for up to 2 weeks. If no Stitch Data is uploaded within 2 weeks, the iGUIDE is automatically deleted and must be created again.
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Check the Stitch Data page
- Log in to the iGUIDE Portal and open the iGUIDE showing the tag.
- On the left hand menu, click Stitch Data.
- Review the status shown. If no stored file is listed, or the file shows an error, continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Find the Stitch Data file
Missing Stitch Data is most common on PLANIX R1 projects uploaded from the PLANIX app, because the app does not always show that an upload failed. Uploads from a computer web browser usually show an error message if something goes wrong.
PLANIX R1 users who do not use Stitch
The exported Stitch Data is saved on the smart device you scanned with.
- On that device, open the Files app (iOS) or file manager (Android).
- Go to Documents or internal storage, open the PLANIX folder, then open the project folder.
- Open the _Export folder. The file inside is usually the Stitch TAR file.
- If there is no Export folder, re-export the project in the PLANIX app:
- Click the three dots next to the project and tap Publish new iGUIDE.
- When you reach the page asking you to assign the project to a New or Existing iGUIDE, the export is complete. You do not need to go any further in the app.
- Leave the PLANIX app and confirm the Export folder now appears in the Files app or file manager.
PLANIX Pro users who use Stitch
- On your computer, open the project folder, then the
_Exportfolder, and locate the.tarfile. - If the file is missing, open the project in the latest version of Stitch, click Export, and wait for it to finish.
Step 3: Upload the TAR file
- Return to Stitch Data section for the iGUIDE on the iGUIDE portal in a web browser. R1 users need to do this on the same smart device that holds the file.
- Drag and drop the
.tarfile into the dashed upload box, or click the box to browse for it. - Click the blue Upload button.
Step 4: Confirm the upload
- Wait until the progress bar turns green and shows 100%. Do not close the browser tab before this.
- Review the upload summary that appears, including the Stitch and Survey versions.
- Complete any remaining steps to submit the iGUIDE for drafting.
Note: If the upload summary does not appear after reaching 100%, try uploading again with a different browser.
Best Practices
- Check status right after every upload. Go to iGUIDE portal and confirm the upload is processing before moving on to your next job. The status appears as soon as the upload finishes.
- Export last, upload once. Finish all edits in Stitch before exporting, and do not re-save the project after you upload.
-
Always upload from the
_Exportfolder. That.tarfile is the only file the Portal can draft from. - Keep Stitch up to date. Use the latest version to avoid export and file-compatibility problems.
- Fix alignment and overlaps early. Resolving these in Stitch prevents failed exports. See Stitch Troubleshooting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will I get an email when my iGUIDE is missing Stitch Data?
A: No. If you closed the app before the upload finished, or know your connection was weak, check the list of your iGUIDEs on the iGUIDE Portal. Each iGUIDE is tagged as Pending, Published or Missing Stitch Data, so you can see the status of your latest order.
Q: Can I replace Stitch Data after the iGUIDE has been submitted?
A: Yes. You can delete and replace the Stitch Data yourself within the 15-minute grace period after uploading. After that, contact Support. They will check whether the drafting team has claimed the file, and if it has not, they can replace or delete the data for you.
Q: I lost my original project data. Can I download it from the Portal?
A: Yes. Stitch Data uploaded to the Portal can be downloaded within 14 days of the iGUIDE being published. See Accessing Stitch data through the Portal.
Q: Stitch won't open my downloaded TAR file. What should I do?
A: Update Stitch to the latest version, then click Load Project and select the .tar file again.
Q: The "Missing Stitch Data" tag is still showing after I uploaded a new file. What now?
A: Confirm the upload reached 100% and the summary appeared. If the "Missing Stitch Data" tag remains, open a support ticket with the iGUIDE address.
Q: My upload is still in progress, but the iGUIDE already shows Missing Stitch Data. Is something wrong?
A: No. The iGUIDE is tagged Missing Stitch Data until the upload completes. For example, if you upload from your phone and check the Portal on another device at the same time, you will see the tag. It clears once the upload finishes.
Q: Is Missing Stitch Data the same as Rejected?
A: No. If your Stitch Data is rejected, the iGUIDE shows a Rejected tag instead, not Missing Stitch Data.
