Overview
Real-Time Floor Plan Preview (RTFPP) is an AI-powered feature in the PLANIX app that generates a simplified floor plan during capture. As you scan with your PLANIX R1, a low-detail preview builds progressively — showing walls, rooms, and layout structure in real time, directly on top of your point cloud data.
This gives you a way to verify coverage and spot alignment issues before you leave the property. Missed areas show up as gaps in the preview. Uncertain geometry is flagged with color. The result is fewer re-visits and more confidence that your scan is complete while you're still on site.

Requirements
Device compatibility:
- PLANIX R1 only — PLANIX Pro is not supported in the initial release
- iOS devices require a minimum of 4GB RAM
- Android devices require a minimum of 6GB RAM
Devices that don't meet the minimum RAM requirement will not see the feature in Survey.
Maximum supported property size by device RAM:
| iOS RAM | Max Size (m) |
|---|---|
| 4GB | 20 × 20 |
| 6GB | 40 × 40 |
| 8GB | 50 × 50 |
| 10GB | 70 × 70 |
| 12GB | 85 × 85 |
| 16GB | 90 × 90 |
| Android RAM | Max Size (m) |
|---|---|
| 6GB | 30 × 30 |
| 8GB | 45 × 45 |
| 10GB | 60 × 60 |
| 12GB | 70 × 70 |
| 16GB | 85 × 85 |
AI model download:
A one-time download (~100MB) is required before you can use Real-Time Floor Plan Preview. You'll need your portal credentials and an internet connection to complete it.
Getting the Feature Ready
- Open the PLANIX app and navigate to Settings
- Locate Real-Time Floor Plan Preview and select the option to download the AI model
- Sign in with your portal credentials when prompted — authentication is required to access the download
- Wait for the download to complete — the model is approximately 100MB and will be stored encrypted on your device; you won't need to download it again
Once the model is downloaded, the feature is ready to use on your next capture.
Using Real-Time Floor Plan Preview
- Toggle the preview on — enable or disable Real-Time Floor Plan Preview at any time during capture using the in-session toggle; it can also be turned on in Settings before you start
- Read the confidence colors — white walls indicate high-confidence geometry detection; amber/orange walls indicate uncertain or low-confidence detection where the system is less sure about the geometry in that area
- Verify coverage as you scan — gaps in the preview indicate areas that haven't been captured; scan those areas to fill them in before leaving the property
- Place tags on the preview — long-press directly on the floor plan preview to place Enhanced Tags (with icons and color) at precise locations; toggle tag visibility per floor to reduce clutter
Important Notes
- The preview is intentionally simplified and visually distinct from your final iGUIDE floor plan — it is a capture guidance tool, not a finished deliverable
- Real-Time Floor Plan Preview adds 0–4 seconds to the minimum capture interval per scan; this is expected behavior
- Amber walls are not an error — they indicate lower detection confidence and are normal, especially in complex or open areas
- The feature is not compatible with SLAM-based workflows
- After capture, the feature flag can be toggled off; it has no effect on processing or final output
Troubleshooting
- Preview is not visible in Survey — confirm the AI model has been downloaded; the download requires portal authentication and an active internet connection; unsupported devices (below minimum RAM) will not see the feature
- Model download fails — check your internet connection, confirm your portal credentials are correct, and verify your device has at least 100MB of available storage
- Capture feels slower than usual — toggle the preview off; the 0–4 second addition per scan is normal, but performance can vary by device; toggling off has no impact on final output quality
- Amber walls throughout the preview — this is expected in areas with open geometry or limited vertical references; continue scanning normally; amber walls do not affect the final floor plan
