Overview

The Survey Settings menu inside the PLANIX app gives Operators control over how their iGUIDE camera captures and communicates during a shoot. Settings are grouped under clear headings with short descriptions, and the most frequently used settings appear at the top of the page. Settings include coverage display, live lidar viewing, Real-Time Floor Plan Preview, unit preferences, Wi-Fi band selection, power saving options, auto alignment, and on PLANIX Pro, factory reset.

This guide walks through every Survey Setting and where to find it, helping Operators tailor the camera to their workflow, extend battery life, ensure accurate alignment, and confirm device firmware and serial details for support and reference purposes.

How do I Find Survey Settings? 

  1. Connect to your camera through the PLANIX app
  2. Open Survey
  3. Tap the hamburger menu in the top-left corner
  4. Select Settings

Capture Guidance

These settings control the visual guidance shown on the map while you capture.

  1. Real-time Floor Plan Preview — Shows a floor plan preview that updates after each scan during capture. Tap the info icon for more details. See Real-Time Floor Plan Preview for requirements and setup.
  2. Real-time Floor Plan Preview Opacity — Adjusts how visible the floor plan preview is on the map; slide right to make it more solid, left to make it more transparent
  3. Coverage Opacity — Adjusts how visible the blue scan coverage shading is on the map; slide right to darken, left to remove [Confirm when this setting is greyed out, e.g. while Real-time Floor Plan Preview is on]
  4. Cone of Perception — Shows or hides the blue cone on the active scan that indicates which direction you're viewing in the 360° preview
  5. Scan Numbers — Shows or hides the capture-order number on each scan position on the map
  6. Auto Align — Automatically aligns each new scan to previously captured scans; this should remain enabled
  7. Alignment Alerts — Alerts you when a scan can't be aligned to the floor plan during capture; recommended alongside Auto Align
  8. Show Live LiDAR Data — Shows the live LiDAR point cloud on the map while capturing
  9. Mute Survey Sounds — Silences Survey's sound effects and prompts
  10. Show All Tags — Shows or hides tags on the LiDAR view during capture; useful for reducing clutter when there are many tags

Measurement

  1. Units — Choose cm or inches for measurements throughout Survey, such as exterior wall thickness

Camera Settings

  1. Region — Adjust regional settings as needed 
  2. Wi-Fi Band — Choose 2.4 GHz (better range) or 5 GHz (better performance) 
  3. Access Point Name — Rename the device's Wi-Fi network 
  4. Wi-Fi Password — Update the device password for added security 
  5. Power Off Timeout — Set how long the camera waits before powering off when idle 
  6. Power Saving Mode — Conserves battery when the camera is inactive 
  7. Reset to Factory Settings (PLANIX Pro only) — Restores the camera to factory defaults; erases all custom settings

Important Notes

  • The bottom of Survey Settings displays your camera firmware version, device serial number, 360 camera model, 360 camera version, and 360 camera serial number
  • On the PLANIX Pro, the HDR settings are also located inside Survey Settings
  • The Vertical Scans option is set per floor, not in Survey Settings. You can select it when creating a floor or from the Floor menu; see How to Use Survey. Floors set to Vertical Scans automatically turn off Real-time Floor Plan Preview, Alignment Alerts, and live LiDAR.
