Initial Site Walkthrough
Getting Ready to Capture
Setting Up the Camera and Tripod
- Level the tripod's ball head mount
- Attach the quick-release (QR) plate to the PLANIX camera, then secure it to the ball head
- Set the lens height to 4.5 ft (130–140 cm) for optimal accuracy
- Adjust height only to clear obstacles or improve lidar coverage — verify in Survey
- Return to 4.5 ft after each adjustment for consistency.
Connecting the Camera to Your Smart Device
PLANIX R1
1. Download the App
- Get the iGUIDE PLANIX App (iOS/Android) and finish onboarding
- Allow local network access
2. Add a New Device
- Tap “New Device” in the top-right corner
- Grant location access when prompted
3. Power On the PLANIX R1
- Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds.
- Wait ~20 seconds for the lidar to start spinning.
4. Scan the QR Code
- Tap “Next” and scan the QR code on the PLANIX R1 screen.
- The app will request camera access.
5. Join the Wi-Fi Network
- When prompted, connect to the PLANIX Wi-Fi (ends in .OSC).
- Once connected, you're ready to scan.
PLANIX Pro
1. Download the App
- Download the iGUIDE PLANIX App from the App Store (IOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Complete the onboarding screens.
2. Add a New Device
- Tap “New Device” in the top-right corner.
- Allow location access and tap “Turn On Camera.”
3. Power On the PLANIX Pro
- Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds.
- Wait ~20 seconds until the lidar spins.
4. Scan the QR Code or Connect Manually
- If available, scan the QR code in your Quick Start Guide.
- If not, Connect Manually
- Tap “Open Settings” and go to Wi-Fi.
- Select the camera network (e.g., planix-XXXXXX).
- Enter the Wi-Fi password (on the camera’s base label).
- Return to the app to continue.
Using the PLANIX App
Create a New Project
Open the app and from the "Devices" list click on your camera
A new Project will open
Enter the property name and details
Scan
- From the hamburger menu, tap Survey, then the center capture button
- The camera collects panoramic data; each scan point appears on screen
Add a New Floor
At a new level, click the hamburger menu, tap Floor
Name it (e.g., "Second Floor", "Basement")
Continue scanning. Repeat per level.
Important Notes
- Tripod height: Always return to 4.5 ft (130–140 cm) after adjustments
- Lidar check: Use Survey view to confirm lidar reads walls correctly, especially near large furniture or open spaces
- Wi-Fi required: The app must stay connected to the camera's Wi-Fi
- Permissions: Local network (device), Location (Wi-Fi setup), Camera (QR scanning)
- Manual floor creation: New floors must be named manually before scanning — there is no auto-detection

Q: Do I need internet access to scan a property?
A: No. The PLANIX connects to your device via local Wi-Fi. No internet is required during scanning. Internet connection is required for uploading to the portal.
Q: Can I adjust tripod height during scanning?
A: Yes, but only for obstacle avoidance or tight spaces. Return to the standard height afterward for consistency.
Q: What happens if I scan out of order or miss a room?
A: You can return and scan the missed area. Just ensure good line of sight with existing scan points for accurate alignment.
Q: Can I scan multiple floors in one project?
A: Yes. Tap Floor in the app, name the new level, and continue scanning.
Q: Are all devices compatible with the PLANIX App?
A: The app supports most iOS and Android devices. Ensure your OS is up-to-date for best results.
