Overview
Enhanced Tags upgrade the iGUIDE tagging experience with 2D visibility, faster on-site placement, icon-based tags with color, and consistent rendering across the PLANIX App, the iGUIDE Portal, the Viewer, the Tag List PDF, and SVG exports. The goal is to make tags faster to place during capture and more meaningful for anyone reviewing the deliverables afterward.
What's New
- See your tags in 2D during capture. You can now view tags directly on your LiDAR data and on the Real-Time Floor Plan Preview while you're still on site. This makes it easier to verify placement floor-by-floor before you leave the property. A global "toggle all" control lets you declutter the view when there are a lot of tags, and you can tap any tag in 2D to view or edit its properties.
- Place tags in 2D with a long-press. Instead of placing tags only from a panorama, you can long-press on the 2D image or data to drop a tag at a precise location. Each tag is clearly associated with the correct floor and scan context.
- Icon-based tags with color. Tags are no longer a generic price-tag icon. You can choose from a curated icon library organized by category (Utilities, Safety & Conditions, Media, Spaces) and pick a color from a predefined palette in the PLANIX App, or set a hex code on the Portal. Icons render consistently in the Viewer, the Tag List PDF, and the SVG export.
- Streamlined creation and editing. On mobile, you'll see an icon preview at the top, a grouped icon picker, and your most-used icons surfaced first. The tag title field offers search and autocomplete seeded by your icon choice, and you can override it with your own naming. The Portal tag editor has been updated to match, with an icon picker and color selection.
- Richer deliverables downstream. Your icon and color choices flow through to the Viewer (with editing support), the Tag List PDF, the SVG export, and Stitch
Icon Library Categories
The icon library covers common operational, safety, and space-use needs. Representative examples include:
- Utilities: electrical outlet, electrical panel, HVAC heat pump, water heater, ethernet, transformer, gas meter, incoming water line, switch, thermostat
- Safety & Conditions: fire extinguisher, smoke detector, first aid, evacuation map, caution, water damage, moisture reading, repair
- Media & Meta: note, photo, video, link, feature, comment
- Spaces: bathroom, bed, workspace, dining, garage, washroom
Important Notes Before You Use Enhanced Tags
The default tag icon is changing for all users. Any existing tags without a specific icon will display using the new default.
If you want your selected icons to appear in processed deliverables, make sure you're using the latest version of Stitch. Older versions of Stitch will revert tags to the default icon during processing.
Existing tagged properties remain fully supported. Legacy tags continue to work and will render with the default icon until you update them.
How to Use Enhanced Tags
During capture (PLANIX App):
- Open your project and make sure LiDAR data or the Real-Time Floor Plan Preview is visible.
- Toggle tags on to see any tags already placed on the current floor.
- Long-press on the 2D image or data at the location where you want a tag.
- Choose an icon from the grouped picker and select a color.
- Use the title autocomplete or type your own title.
- Verify the tag appears correctly in both the panorama and the 2D data/preview.
- Use the per-floor or global toggle if you need to reduce clutter.
On the iGUIDE Portal:
- Open the tag editor to change a tag's icon, color (including hex code), or title.
FAQs
Will my existing tags still work? Yes. Enhanced Tags are backwards compatible. Legacy tags continue to render — they'll appear with the new default icon unless you edit them to choose a specific icon.
Why don't I see my chosen icon in the processed output? The most common cause is an older version of Stitch being used for processing. Update Stitch to the latest version so your icon selections carry through.
Why does my tag show the default icon? This usually means the tag was created without an icon (typical for legacy tags), or processing occurred with an older Stitch version. Edit the tag and select an icon to update it.
Can I declutter the view when there are too many tags on screen? Yes. Use the global "toggle all" control during capture, or rely on per-floor visibility to focus on one area at a time.
What platforms support Enhanced Tags? PLANIX Pro and PLANIX R1 for capture, the iGUIDE Portal for editing, and the Viewer, Tag List PDF, and SVG export for deliverables.
Troubleshooting
- Icon picker missing in the Viewer or Portal: This feature is rolling out in phases. If you don't see it yet, it may not be enabled on your account — contact iGUIDE Support to confirm availability.
- Tags appear as the default icon in deliverables: Confirm the processing workflow is using the latest Stitch version.
- Too many tags cluttering the capture view: Use the global toggle or per-floor visibility controls.
