While the PLANIX R1 features a quick-release battery, it cannot be hot-swapped (i.e., replaced while the system is powered on). To change the R1 battery, you must first power down the system. After replacing the battery, power the system back on.
For the PLANIX Pro, the Theta Z1 could be detached from the system unit and used as a standalone camera with the Ricoh Theta app. However, with the PLANIX R1, the Theta X is fully integrated into the system. It is neither user-replaceable nor removable. If a replacement is needed, please send the system to us for servicing by opening a .
