Overview
HDR (High Dynamic Range) settings on the PLANIX Pro control how the camera handles bright highlights and dark shadows by merging multiple exposures into a single balanced 360° image. Choosing the right HDR mode helps your scans more closely reflect what the human eye sees in any environment.
This guide explains where to find the HDR options inside the PLANIX app's Survey interface and breaks down each available mode, helping operators select the best setting for indoor, outdoor, or mixed-light scenes when capturing iGUIDE projects.

Where to Find the HDR Settings
Connect to the PLANIX Pro camera and open the Survey interface
Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner
Select Settings. Under the HDR section, select your desired mode
Tap Save Settings in the top-right corner.
HDR Setting Options
- External (Ricoh) — Uses the Ricoh THETA Z1's native HDR. Faster than other modes by a few seconds per scan, producing images with less contrast
- -5EV/+2EV (iGUIDE) — iGUIDE's exposure fusion designed for interiors with bright highlights and deep shadows. A strong choice for most indoor and outdoor scans, with excellent contrast and highlight detail
- -1EV/+1EV (iGUIDE) — A milder bracketing mode. Best suited for outdoor scenes with less extreme lighting differences
- -3EV/+3EV (iGUIDE) — A balanced option for spaces with challenging highlights and shadows. May be preferable to -5/+2 in some situations
- Off — Disables HDR processing entirely. Significantly faster than all other modes; ideal for spaces with even lighting or where shadow/highlight detail isn't critical.
Important Notes
- Changing the HDR setting can affect the processing speed of every shot taken after the change
