How do I Insert the PLANIX Pro's Battery?
If you find the PLANIX Pro won't turn on, but the battery is charged, there might be a chance the battery is not correctly connected to the PLANIX Pro base. To ensure the battery is inserted properly:
- Ensure the battery is charged by pressing the button on the battery seen below:
- Ensure the battery is properly aligned with the pins. The pull tab should be closest to the exterior of the PLANIX Pro.
- When pressing the battery down make sure to rock the battery from side to side, and to ensure that the battery goes below the tabs on the side of the battery.
How Do I Factory Reset my PLANIX Pro?
- On the bottom of the PLANIX Pro there is a reset button inside a tiny hole next to the charging port. If you do a factory reset all user settings and the Wi-Fi password will be reset to factory defaults. By doing this the Wi-Fi password will then become the S/N of the PLANIX Pro camera.
Here is the steps needed to factory reset your PLANIX Pro:
Step 1: Power on the PLANIX Pro.
Step 2: Wait until the status indictor stops blinking.
Step 3: Use a paperclip or SIM Card removal tool to hold down the reset button for 3 seconds
Step 4: Once the status and battery life indicators turn off release the reset button.
How to Set Up a PLANIX Core/New Theta Z1 Camera
If you ordered a PLANIX Core configuration and are providing your own supported 360° camera or are replacing the 360° camera, follow the steps below or watch the following video:
Step 1: Remove the four M3 screws from the 360° camera mount using #1 Phillips screwdriver.
Step 2: Attach the 360° camera to the mount using the provided black thumb screw with ¼” thread.
Step 3: Attach the USB-C connector to the 360° camera. There is only one orientation of the connector at which it will engage properly.
Step 4: Attach the 360° camera mount to the system, routing the USB cable around the plastic screw boss and between the boss and the adjacent flat fin. There is only one orientation of the 360° camera mount at which it will engage properly.
Step 5: Re-install the four M3 screws. Do not over-tighten the screws.
Step 6: Power up the system, connect via Wi-Fi and perform lens alignment from the Survey Settings page.
Aligning your 360° Camera
PLANIX has a built-in lens to lidar alignment procedure which accounts for small rotations of the Theta Z1 camera in relation to the PLANIX lidar scanner. Proper camera lens-to-lidar alignment ensures that, in the iGUIDE Viewer, a room corner on the floor plan matches the corresponding room corner in a 360° image. This alignment (or lack of) is easiest to see in Measure Mode 1 - place a mouse cursor on a room corner in the floorplan and see that the vertical red line shown over the 360° image should be over the corresponding room corner.
How To
360° camera alignment can be performed by visiting the Survey Settings menu as needed and should always be done any time the Theta Z1 was removed and re-installed (or replaced with another Z1). The Z1 camera is user replaceable (with loss of Planitar lens calibration if a user-supplied Z1 is used).
USB Flash Drive Troubleshooting Information
- When replacing or buying additional USB flash drives for your PLANIX Pro we advise in buying a Sandisk Ultra Flair 16GB.
- Filling up your USB flash drive by 75%+ will decrease writing speeds by 50%.
- When transferring data to a computer to use Stitch, make sure to copy the project to the computer and do not open a project off of the USB flash drive directly.
- Do not pull out the USB flash drive from the PLANIX Pro without either turning off the camera, or by using the safe eject button in the Survey settings.
- USB flash drives need to be formatted with FAT (MSDOS), FAT16, or FAT32 to be used with the PLANIX camera, and have only one partition.
- If you are getting the "NO DISK" error that means the USB flash drive is not connected properly, or the flash drive is damaged.
- If you either receive corrupted images when importing to Stitch or the iGUIDE portal, it is likely due to ejecting the USB flash drive while the camera is still on. In order to recreate corrupted files, right-click on a pano in Stitch and choose to reload it.
Common Wi-Fi Connection Issues
- When connecting to your PLANIX Pro camera it is recommended to put airplane mode on, and make sure Wi-Fi is enabled. This will help your smart device to connect to the camera.
- If you do not see your PLANIX Pro's Wi-Fi in available Wi-Fi on your smart device, please turn off your smart device's Wi-Fi and then turn it back on. This will refresh the list of available Wi-Fi.
- If you get an error that says you used the incorrect password when trying to connect to the PLANIX Pro, try forgetting the camera's Wi-Fi on your smart device, and then reconnect to the camera's Wi-Fi.
- If you cannot connect to the PLANIX Pro and you are using a Android phone, try turning off the cellular data first.
Compass Calibration
If you frequently get Stitch warnings about compass calibration, choose Calibrate Compass under Survey Settings. You will need to rotate the camera around three approximately orthogonal axes. On-screen instructions will guide you through a simple calibration procedure. Rotation should be performed slowly and should take approximately 15-20 seconds to complete. If the data collection is not completed in 60 seconds, the procedure will time out and will need to be repeated.
Compass Calibration Procedure:
- Open the Survey app on your PLANIX device.
- Navigate to the Settings menu.
- Select the option 'Calibrate Compass'.
- Follow the on-screen instructions or video guide (as shown in the screenshot below).
