Overview
Keeping your PLANIX Pro firmware up to date ensures consistent performance, the latest features, and full compatibility with the PLANIX app and iGUIDE workflow. There are two ways to update: via a USB drive and a computer, or directly through the PLANIX app when connected to the camera.
This process helps operators maintain reliable scan capture, prevent compatibility issues, and stay current with iGUIDE's latest improvements, ensuring every project starts on a stable, fully supported version of the camera's software.
Before You Begin
- Have a computer turned on and ready to use
- Confirm the PLANIX Pro battery is charged above 25%
- Have the PLANIX Pro USB flash drive available (for the computer method).
Method 1: Firmware Update via Computer
- Visit goiguide.com/downloads and click the Latest Firmware link under the iGUIDE PLANIX heading
- Wait for the firmware file to finish downloading
- Delete any existing fw6_update.7z file from your USB flash drive
- Copy the new firmware file to the USB flash drive
- Confirm the file is named exactly fw6_update.7z and is placed at the root of the drive (not inside any folders)
- Safely eject the USB flash drive from the computer
- Insert the USB flash drive into the PLANIX Pro and power it on
- Open the Survey app and go to the Settings tab
- Scroll down and tap Update Firmware. Once complete, close Survey and reconnect to begin using the new firmware.
Method 2: Firmware Update via the PLANIX App
- Open the PLANIX app on your smart device
- Connect to the PLANIX Pro camera
- In the Devices section, tap the picture of the PLANIX Pro camera
- When prompted that the firmware must be updated, tap Update
- Wait for the update to finish, then tap the camera image again in Devices to launch Survey and resume scanning
