It is important to update the camera’s firmware to take advantage of new features and bug fixes.
To check your current firmware version, see the System Information section on the Manage tab.
Before you begin, ensure that the PLANIX system battery has at least 25% of the battery charge.
Steps 1-5 can be skipped by using the firmware update notification dialogue in Stitch.
In case of any Survey errors, clear your browser history.
You do not need to open/unzip the firmware update file.
The firmware update file must be named exactly: fw6_update.7z
Any other name variations will cause this process to fail.
You can safely rename the file if need be.
To update the PLANIX firmware version follow these steps:
Go to and click on the Latest Firmware link under the iGUIDE PLANIX heading.
The firmware will now download.
If one exists, delete the old fw6_update.7z file from your USB flash drive.
Copy the new system firmware file onto your USB flash drive.
Ensure that the file is named exactly fw6_update.7z. The file should be placed at the root of the USB drive (i.e. not in any of your project folders).
Safely eject the USB flash drive from the computer to avoid file corruption.
Insert the USB flash drive into the PLANIX and power it on.
Browse to the Survey app & go to the Settings tab.
Scroll down and press the Update Firmware button.
Once complete, close Survey and reconnect to the system to begin using the new firmware.

To update the PLANIX firmware using the PLANIX App, follow these steps:
Go into the PLANIX app
Connect to the system
Click on the system again once connected.
You will get a message that pops up saying that the Firmware needs to be updated to use the system, click on "Update"
Wait for the system to update. Once it is finished, you can click on the system again to start the "Survey" and begin scanning.
