Overview
The 3D Model add-on delivers a digital model of the property in either DWG or RVT format, providing a head start for architects, designers and contractors. It includes the primary structural elements of the building so teams can move quickly into design, planning or construction work.
This article covers what the 3D Model is, what is included with the deliverable, where the add-on is available and important notes about delivery and software compatibility.

What a 3D Model Is
The 3D Model is a digital file representing the property's structural shell, delivered in DWG or RVT format. It is intended as a starting point for further design and modelling work. For a full breakdown of file contents, see the 3D Model Deliverables document.
What's Included
Each 3D Model delivery includes the following components:
- 3D model file in DWG or RVT format
- Walls, doors, windows and basic structural elements
Availability
This add-on is offered with the following iGUIDE packages and is delivered in DWG or RVT format for compatibility with most CAD software:
- iGUIDE Premium
- iGUIDE Advanced Drawing
Important Notes
Keep these points in mind when ordering a 3D Model:
- 3D Models are typically ready within 3 to 5 days after the iGUIDE is published, depending on the property size and complexity and the current volume of iGUIDEs in the queue
- Files are delivered to guarantee compatibility with both AutoCAD and Revit — while they may work with other software, functionality is not guaranteed
- Chief Architect can import DWG and DXF files but not RVT files. Our 3D DWG exports should work, though geometry will import as static objects rather than editable elements. We provide files in standard 2018 DWG format for broad compatibility, but we don't support external software platforms—any compatibility issues, version mismatches, or import errors are outside our scope.
