What CAD Floor Plans Are
CAD Floor Plans combine a professionally drafted DWG floor plan with DXF lidar point cloud data for every floor of the property. Together these files provide a detailed, measurable starting point for design, planning and construction work. For a full breakdown of file contents, see the CAD Floor Plan Add-on Deliverables document.
What's Included
Each CAD Floor Plan delivery includes the following components:
- Drafted floor plan (DWG) at LOD 200, with interior wall thicknesses set to North American standards and exterior spaces such as patios, decks and porches included
- AIA standard layers with annotations including labels, area totals and object dimensions (available with the Advanced Drawing Package and iGUIDE Premium only)
- Lidar point cloud data of all drafted floors in DXF format
Availability
The CAD Floor Plan add-on is offered across the following iGUIDE packages:
- Automatically included in the iGUIDE Advanced Drawing Package
- Available with iGUIDE Standard — provided with reduced detail
- Available with iGUIDE Premium — provided with full detail
Important Notes
Keep these points in mind when ordering a CAD Floor Plan:
- CAD Floor Plans are typically ready within 2 days of the original iGUIDE being published, depending on the size and complexity of the property and the current volume of iGUIDEs in the queue
- The file is formatted to guarantee function with AutoCAD — functionality with other CAD software cannot be guaranteed
- Chief Architect can import DWG and DXF files. We provide files in standard 2018 DWG format for broad compatibility, but we don't support external software platforms—any compatibility issues, version mismatches, or import errors are outside our scope.
