Overview
Protection settings give you control over who can see your iGUIDE and how it appears online. From the iGUIDE Portal, you can lock a tour to remove it from public view, restrict access to specific users with Protected mode, generate a private Unlisted View, or adjust the URL's expiry date to manage long-term availability.
These tools work together to help you maintain privacy, comply with client requests, and keep your iGUIDEs secure across the entire listing lifecycle, from pre-launch edits through to post-sale archiving.

Choosing the Right Protection Method
There are four ways to protect your iGUIDE, each suited to a different scenario:
- Locking your iGUIDE
- Enabling Protected mode
- Creating an Unlisted View
- Setting the expiry date for your iGUIDE URL
Locking Your iGUIDE
Locking an iGUIDE removes it from public view. Common reasons to lock include the property selling and the owners wishing to take it offline, or wanting to make edits privately before relaunching publicly.
To lock or unlock your iGUIDE:
- Log into the iGUIDE Portal
- Go to the "My iGUIDEs" section
- Click the title of the iGUIDE you wish to lock or unlock to open the "Show iGUIDE Details" section
- Scroll down to the "iGUIDE User Views" section
- Click the "Lock" or "Unlock" button as required
Enabling Protected Mode
Protected mode restricts viewing to the manager, editors, and the iGUIDE's viewer list, all of whom must log into the iGUIDE Portal to access the tour. It also prevents the iGUIDE from being found through online searches or indexed.
To turn Protected mode on or off:
- Log into the iGUIDE Portal
- Go to the "My iGUIDEs" section
- Find the iGUIDE and press the blue "Edit" button to open the Edit Default View page
- Scroll down to the "Protection" section
- Toggle Protected on or off, and add the viewers who should retain access while protection is enabled
- Scroll to the bottom and click "Save"
Creating an Unlisted View
An Unlisted View creates a new version of your iGUIDE with a unique URL that can be shared like the default view, while preventing the iGUIDE from being searchable online. This is useful when you want to share your iGUIDE only through direct URL access. Unlisted Views can also have Protected mode applied via the blue "Edit" button.
To create an Unlisted View:
- Log into the iGUIDE Portal
- Go to the "My iGUIDEs" section
- Click the title of the iGUIDE to open the "Show iGUIDE Details" section
- Scroll down to the "iGUIDE User Views" section and press the "Lock" button to open the pop-up
- Click "Lock and create a new Unlisted View" to automatically lock the original view and generate a new view with a unique URL
Managing Your iGUIDE Expiry Date
Every iGUIDE View has an expiration date automatically set to one year after the iGUIDE is first drafted. This applies only to the public URL, not to the iGUIDE itself. Once the expiration date passes, the iGUIDE is automatically locked and is no longer viewable publicly, although the date can be changed or extended at any time, even after it has passed.
To update the iGUIDE expiry date:
- Log into the iGUIDE Portal
- Go to the "My iGUIDEs" section
- Find the iGUIDE and press the blue "Edit" button to open the Edit Default View page
- At the top of the Edit View page, open the Expiration Date calendar and select a new date
- Scroll to the bottom and press the blue "Save" button to confirm your changes
