Locking/Unlocking an iGUIDE
In this article are steps to lock/unlock an iGUIDE, and the use case for locking iGUIDEs.
Who can lock an iGUIDE?
There are a number of account types within the iGUIDE portal, see iGUIDE Roles and Accounts for further details.
Accounts types that are allowed to lock an iGUIDE:
Manager - has full access to an iGUIDE and can lock an iGUIDE View.
Editor - when added, have full access to an iGUIDE and can lock an iGUIDE View.
For information on adding an Editor to your iGUIDE, see Adding an Editor to your iGUIDE
Accounts types that are not allowed to lock an iGUIDE:
Subscribers - only receive analytics and reports.
Users - A user account can log into the portal but has no access other than where it is granted (such as being added as an Editor)
When to lock an iGUIDE
An iGUIDE view is locked when a house is sold, to remove the tour from the public eye (a good representation of a sold home if they use the URL). It is also useful when you first create an iGUIDE but don’t want the tour available until you have finished customising your view.
You could lock an iGUIDE view, and then create a duplicate for private eyes (it would generate a new link). This new link will be unlisted.
Locking or unlocking the iGUIDE can be done at any time from the iGUIDE Portal. Below are steps on how to do it:
Step-By-Step Instructions
Locking an iGUIDE on the Portal
Find the iGUIDE on the My iGUIDEs page of the iGUIDE Portal (manage.youriguide.com).
Click the iGUIDE Details button. Refer to Figure 1.
Scroll down and under iGUIDE User Views click the Lock button. Refer to Figure 2.
After clicking the Lock button a pop-up will appear for you to confirm your action. Click the red Lock button to lock the iGUIDE or click the blue Lock and create a new Unlisted View button.
Locking an iGUIDE from the Analytics Email (SOLD?)
When the iGUIDE link remains active (unlocked), anybody can access all of the property details available through the iGUIDE. For privacy reasons, it is recommended to lock the iGUIDE from public view once the property has sold, or if the seller has decided to take their home off the market (permanently or temporarily).
If a buyer/seller wants to access the iGUIDE after it's been locked, consider providing them with a link to an unlisted view (created through the iGUIDE Portal) or the offline iGUIDE (downloadable through the iGUIDE Report) instead.
How to lock an iGUIDE:
If you are receiving an iGUIDE Analytics Report and click on the SOLD? button it will redirect you to the iGUIDE Portal.
You will be greeted with a Sign In page if you haven’t signed in on this browser before, or if your earlier session has timed out. See Figure 1.
If you do not have permission to directly lock the iGUIDE*, you will be presented with a form you can submit to the Editors of the iGUIDE, requesting for it to be locked. Fill out the form and click on the Request to Lock the iGUIDE button. See Figure 2.
If you do have permission to lock the iGUIDE*, you will be presented with a simple form, where you can confirm the Address and URL before locking. Click on Lock a sold iGUIDE to continue. See Figure 3.
* To get permission to lock an iGUIDE yourself, two things are required:
You need to have an account on the iGUIDE Portal (see Figure 1).
You must have a banner on the iGUIDE with an email address matching the one you used for your iGUIDE Portal account.
If one of these requirements is not met, you can still request to lock the iGUIDE (see Figure 2).
You will be prompted to confirm that you want to lock the iGUIDE. Once you have confirmed you are locking the correct iGUIDE, click on Lock the iGUIDE. See Figure 4.
Once you have confirmed you want to lock the iGUIDE, you will be brought to the confirmation screen. The iGUIDE link you have locked will now be displayed as (Expired). See Figure 5.
This procedure is required for security reasons, so that unauthorized users cannot lock iGUIDEs if an Analytics email gets into the wrong hands.
Unlocking an iGUIDE
To unlock the iGUIDE follow the same first three steps above but instead of clicking on the Lock button, click the Unlock button.
The Unlock iGUIDE View pop-up box will appear. Click on the red Unlock button to unlock the iGUIDE.
